This year October will have 5 Sundays,

5 Mondays and 5 Saturdays.

This happens only every 823 years.

We will have four unusual dates this year:

1/1/11

1/11/11

11/1/11

11/11/11

I got an email a few days ago about these dates and it got me to

thinking about how I could use the number eleven with my art

and I came up with what I think is a great idea!

I will create up to eleven works,

11″ x 11″ before the 11th

of each month beginning in

April and going up to November 11th.

On the 11th of each month 11 new

pieces will be posted for sale on

my website at 11:11 a.m. for $111.

The first posting will be

5/11/11!

The last posting will be

11/11/11!

This is a great deal for you art lovers. My regular price would be about $275. You will be able to make a purchase from the website or in my studio/gallery, SENTOSA, #102 in the east wing of Sunset Center.

If you already are collector–a great opportunity for a few new pieces, or if you have been thinking about a painting, you’ll have lots of choices–up to “ELEVEN” each month!

I wish I had thought of doing this before the first of the year–but you guys that have been receiving my email know that I’m always a day late thinking of something–this time I’m about 4 months late!

I’m not going to attempt to go back and do the paintings for January through March. Each piece will be numbered with the month, number of the work, and the year. This month I’ll do:

4-1-11, 4-2-11, 4-3-11, and continue up to 4-11-11.

I will paint paintings numbered 1/1/11,

1/11/11 and 2/11/11 and 3/11/11.

Those “ELEVEN” paintings will be special.

I may make a few ceramic pieces that will be, but most will be oil paintings. They will encompass just about any subject and maybe some abstracts. I think it is going to be fun.I hope you will jump in and get involved.

I’m going to have a drawing for the 1/1/11 painting on May 11th in Sentosa at 7:11 p.m. You will be able to sign up for the drawing at

1st Friday Artwalk on May 6th from 5-9 p.m. or at the reception.

The reception in honor of the ELEVENS is from 6:11 to 8:11 p.m. on May 11th at SENTOSA and everyone’s invited! You’ll get to view up to ELEVEN new pieces created in April.

Mark your calendar and save the date!

Spring is finally here–I think! It seems that we had the April showers last week, and now the winds are in full blast. I sat at two softball games this week, freezing to death in a strong north wind! You would have thought that a major snow storm would have followed it in. It has now settled to a brisk breeze, but I don’t think I’ve really warmed up yet! I am warming up to some garden art though. I haven’t quite got ready to plant flowers outside–I think we could still get a freeze, maybe a snow! but it’s not too early to plant art in the garden to brighten any spot.

This is a picture of one of the rooster windows that features a black copper maran cock.

I’ve also been painting old wooden windows with flowers and roosters to hang indoors or out. The shabby chic windows are beautiful hanging on your wooden fence or brick garden wall. They are a great way to brighten your garden while waiting for those annuals to fill the garden with beautiful blooms. So far I’ve painted a rooster, poppies, hollyhocks, and sunflowers. These paintings and bells are available in my gallery–Sentosa–#102 in East Wing of the Galleries at Sunset (3701 Plains Blvd, Amarillo, TX). I’m there most days, but you can call 806 676-1733 just to be sure–sometimes I am out working on a project or painting outdoors or at a ballgame–our grand-daughter Bailey’s softball team is in the playoffs. All of the galleries will be open Friday, May 7th for the First Friday Art Walk from 5-9 pm.

I’ve painted a couple of vintage windows for August Lights this year. This beautiful rooster is one of my favorites. I took him to art class with me last week to show him off and just leaned him up against a weathered cedar fence. It was gorgeous. The grey weathered wood made the perfect background–it looked like he was standing in the barnyard taking care of his chicks! Come by studio sentosa, #109 at The Galleries at Sunset, 3701 Plains Blvd to see this bird and a bunch more! I’m having a great SALE! I cleaned out the closet and pulled out some demos, things I’ve done on location, several things like that and have them priced dirt cheap! I’ve got everything marked down for August Lights and on Monday–those prices go back.

What is August Lights?–It’s a visual arts festival celebrating our local artists here in Amarillo. Artists are all in their studios at Sunset, plus several guest artists are set up in the mall area demonstrating their talents. Come by and talk to the artist, ask questions, get to know them. It’s a lot of fun! We will be open Sunday, August 9th from 1-5! Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy the visual arts of Amarillo.

I have 20+ paintings hanging there. The show looks great and will be up until after St. Patrick’s Day in March. On Sunday March 15th, there will be a concert and dinner. All of their events are free and I would really love it if you could attend. Yesterday, Sunday, Feb. 15th they had a concert with the Wright Family from Lubbock. It was fabulous! The Wrights’ are very talented and there was a really nice crowd.
