As a child, there was a big chicken like this one outside of Myers’ Fried Chicken. It was a favorite restaurant of my family and we often ate there on Sunday afternoon after church. On a trip to Sedonna, I saw this chicken in the flea market. I just had to paint it! It brought back all of those childhood memories like the smell of fried chicken sand honey and French fries and yellow gravy! I just had to laugh at the memories it brought! Like little flags you raise to get the waitress’s attention when you needed a refill!
“The faintest waft is sometimes enough to induce feelings of hunger or anticipation,
or to transport you back through time and space to a long-forgotten moment in
your childhood. It can overwhelm you in an instant or simply tease you,
creeping into your consciousness slowly and evaporating almost the
moment it is detected. “ ~Stephen Lacey, Scent in Your Garden, 1991
